What to do
- Look at the tread and the sidewalls of both sets for cracks, bulges and damage.
- Check the age mark (four digits, week and year) on the sidewall.
- Ask the workshop to balance the wheels and to tighten the wheel nuts to the torque the maker specifies.
- Check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold, including the spare.
- Store the other set clean, dry and away from sunlight.
What to bring
- The second set of wheels or tyres.
- The locking wheel-nut key, if the car has one.
- The tyre-pressure value from the door label or the manual.
